Day 9: T-shirts

I know you have one. The drawer that barely closes, full of shirts you haven’t laid eyes on in decades that tells the story of your life. From your sophomore year homecoming shirt with the clever alcoholic play on words, to the 5k you ran (walked) in during your Zumba phase. You don’t wear them, but nostalgia won’t let you toss them.

There are two ways I like to tackle this cotton crypt so you can reclaim your space.

  1. Quilt: Depending on the size you want and the company you use, a quilt can utilize 20-40 shirts. So if you can pair down your pile the truly special ones, this option could be the best movie night addition to your home.

  2. Photo Album: There is no limit here on the number of memories you keep. Find a flat surface in a well lit room and take a photo of each shirt. You can quickly and easily make a coffee table book to browse on occasion or save more space and put it on a shelf to look at when you are feeling nostalgic.

Once your memories are safe you are free to donate or recycle your shirts!
