Day 19: First Aid Supplies

Let’s be honest. Your first aid kit is probably a glorified plastic shoe box stuffed with crumpled gauze and one lonely alcohol wipe. Let’s fix that so when life gives your lemons (or bee stings and cut up knees) you are left with a little more than duct tape and hope.

  • Start by getting rid of anything goopy/leaking, or open.

  • Make sure the things you use the most are front and center for easy access.

  • Group by category. (band aids, gauze, antibacterial ointment, tools)

Not sure what should be in your kit? Here is a good list to get your started!

  • Band aids: in various sizes for cuts and scrapes

  • Gauze pads/rolls: for covering larger wounds

  • Antiseptic wipes/solution/ointment: To clean wounds and prevent infections

  • Adhesive tape: To secure dressings and bandages

  • Sterile eyewash: For eye injuries

  • Scissors, Tweezers: For cutting bandages and removing debris

  • Thermometer: To check for fevers

  • Elastic bandages: For strains and sprains

  • Instant Cold Packs: To reduce swelling and pain

  • Aloe Vera Gel: For minor burns

  • Disposible gloves: To stay sterile and not introduce bacteria

  • Hand Sanitizer: To clean hands when soap isn’t available

  • A list of Emergency numbers: Like poison control and nearby hospitals
